Once a month, hundreds of students from Fremont High School get to take their schoolwork to the farm as students in the animal science and agriculture biology classes move to the district’s agriculture education facility. In early March, students practiced ultrasound scanning sheep, examining eggs and learning about chicken breeding.
Civil rights icon Ernest Green spoke with students at Davis High School on Thursday, March 22, 2018. In 1957, Green was one of the Little Rock Nine, a group of African-American students who attended the previously all-white Little Rock Central High School in Arkansas. The Little Rock Nine dealt with attacks, harassment and death threats and eventually needed the assistance of the US Army to attend school. Green spoke with students at Davis about facing their fears.
